Re-establishing the species
The project is run and led by the Swedish Anglers Association. Dan Calderon first proposed bringing sturgeon back to the Göta älv in 2013. Initial meetings were held with interested organisations in the Gothenburg area, but the major breakthrough did not come until 2017.

A fascinating species
The fish we work with is the Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus). It is a fascinating species that can grow very large and live for many years. Historical records suggest it can live for 120–140 years, exceed 500 cm in length and weigh more than 600 kg.
