How your donation supports research
In 2024, we were able to release this iconic fish again for the first time. To follow the fish and find out how they are doing, we need acoustic telemetry tags: small transmitters surgically implanted in their abdominal cavity. These cost around SEK 1 000 each, but they tell us that the first batch of 95 fish are doing well and appear to be thriving in their new home river, the Göta älv, and along the nearby coast. SEK 100 buys surgical thread, a needle and cleaning supplies for tagging. SEK 1 000 buys a transmitter for one fish. These are essential to the study. SEK 15 000 buys a receiver and substantially increases the area in which we can detect the fish. In 2025, we plan to acoustically tag 100 fish. Donations will help buy transmitters to be implanted in the sturgeon’s abdominal cavity. Please support us! Funding this symbolically important conservation work is difficult to secure.
